Connect with Publishing Innovation

Mark McGuffee

What are you doing about the CPSIA Legislation looming over children's books next month?

I'm interested to learn your take on the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act set to take effect February 10, 2009. The Act as it's written, requires all products for children 12 and under, including books, to be tested for lead by a third party testing lab at the publisher’s expense.

The fight isn't over so I would like to know if you're involved in any active way.

Thanks,

Mark

At the RFQ stage we now ask proactively whether printed material is intended for, or appealing to, children under 12, so the required testing is part of the work order from the get-go.
